With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Wayne, who left us on December 13, 2025, in his 58th year.
Born in East York, Ontario, Wayne spent the first part of his life in Ontario before moving to British Columbia with his wife and sons 17 years ago, where they made their home on Vancouver Island. He was married to his beloved wife, Rosa Montgomery (Harrington) for 30 years—a life built together through love, family, and shared dreams. Wayne was a proud and loving father to his two sons, Brendan and Ryan, and a devoted family man who cherished those closest to him. He is forever loved and deeply missed by his mother, Bev Montgomery, his sister Lisa Daniels (Montgomery), and the many family members he gathered along his life’s journey, including sisters, aunts, uncles’ nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends and those who have gone on before him.
Since moving to Vancouver Island, Wayne worked at the Government of British Columbia where he will be deeply missed by those who knew and worked alongside him.
Music was at the heart of Wayne’s life. A passionate singer and musician, he shared his gift across Vancouver Island, performing countless shows over the years—from Legions and rodeos to theatres—always giving everything he had. He cherished his band members and the friendships formed through music. Each year, he held a special place in his heart for a beloved event known as Special Woodstock, which reflected his love of music, community, and connection.
Above all, he loved Rosa, Brendan and Ryan - “What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.” He gave us each a song —his life, his family, his friends—leaving us with love, memories, and music that will last forever.
The family asks that those wishing to make a donation in Wayne’s memory please consider donating to Special Woodstock at WayneSpecialWoodstock@gmail.com
