It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Lorna Marilyn (Chapple) Richardson, age 83, announce her passing on September 3, 2025, in Duncan, British Columbia.
Born in Meaford, Ontario, Lorna carried a quiet strength and steady presence that shaped the lives of those who knew her. She was a deeply creative and devoted mother who did her very best for her children, even when life placed heavy challenges in her path. She was known for her resourcefulness, finding thoughtful and beautiful ways to manage a household during difficult financial times, and for the many sacrifices she made for those she loved.
Her love for family was at the center of her life. She shared a close and meaningful bond with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taking great joy in being part of their lives and often speaking of how much she wished she could have seen her great-grandchildren grow into adulthood.
Lorna was endlessly creative. She was a writer at heart and spent many years working on a novel set in ancient Egypt, a subject she was especially passionate about. She also created intricate hand-knit and hand-sewn clothing for dolls, each piece a small work of art lovingly made, sold, and gifted. Her creativity knew no bounds; she always had many projects on the go and ideas still waiting to be brought to life.
She loved gardening, and over the years her gardens evolved from colourful flower beds to thriving fruit trees, berry bushes, and vegetable gardens. She also had a deep love of the ocean, good food, art, museums, history, and above all, her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her spouse Mark Coe; her children Cynthia (Teeft) Kennedy, Robin Teeft, and Krista (Ryan) Blizzard; her grandchildren Caitlin Kennedy, Brandon Kennedy, Morgan Kennedy, Kelly Blizzard, and Arin Blizzard; her great-grandchildren Serenity Blizzard, Scarlett Blizzard, Greyson Blizzard, and Onyx Blizzard; and her sisters Coral Henderson, Donna Oldfin, Walterina Brooks, and Diane Cranny.
Lorna was predeceased by her father Walter Chapple, her mother Marion Bibby, and her loving husband Denis Ryan, who tragically lost his life aboard the Ocean Ranger off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.
In keeping with her wishes, no formal service was held. Lorna was cremated, and her ashes were lovingly scattered in several of her favourite beautiful places. A memorial video celebrating her life is currently being created and will be shared with family and friends.
